It’s the Little Things.

Last school year, Aleah and I were chatting about school and teachers and end-of-the-year gifts. I was saying how I never know what to get, but Aleah was pretty sure about her idea, because she had been sending in gifts all year. I was intrigued. She told me, at the beginning of the school year, she sends in a small questionnaire to each child’s teacher. All it asks is what the teacher likes, and then throughout the year she would randomly send in goodies. Genius, right?!! I thought so then, and I still think so, now that I’ve used the same idea. Teachers have our children all day, everyday. They get very little by way of reward or recognition for all their hard work. This is a small way we can repay them for loving and protecting our kids when we can’t be there. Here’s an example of a list of likes, but you can make up yours however you want.

▪ Favorite drink
▪ Favorite candy
▪ Favorite color
▪ Favorite sports team
▪ Favorite fast food restaurant

There are lots of things you can think up, but try to keep the list simple. You’d be amazed how a simple gesture like sending in a candy bar for the teacher, may just brighten up their whole day. Appreciate the teachers in your life in this small way. You won’t regret it.

What kinds of gifts do you like to send in to the teacher?
